Through this format, it explores the concept of kawaii (“cute”) as an aesthetic category and its pervasive influence on our contemporary mediascapes, as well as the broader phenomenon of the Japanization of global pop culture, encompassing manifestations ranging from the visual arts exhibited in museums and galleries to the digital underworld of mass culture.
